rutherford on "Cannot post/upload to WordPress blog 2.2.1"

I have WordPress 2.2.1 installed on my host and tried to upload an image to my latest draft post. It failed with no error msg (the image upload area on the page went blank). I then tried to save and publish my post. Neither action could be accomplished (whole screen when blank on submission). Now I cannot save edits to this draft post in any way.

Any idea what’s gone wrong? Maybe a db error?
