Walliver on "Expiration date: change title and exclude from front page"
June 21, 2010 by David Olsen
Hello all,
I’m setting up a coupon site. By its very nature this is going to have entries that are no longer valid after a certain time/date.
Ideally what I’d like to do is set up each coupon so that after a certain time ‘EXPIRED:’ is automatically added to the front of the post title.
I’d also like to set up the front page so it excludes any post with ‘EXPIRED:’ in the title – but I would still want these on other pages, to stop the site looking empty at times/in places. (If this is possible without the first, I’d be interested in knowing the code for this to get me started).
There is one thread about a very similar issue (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/307604?replies=3 ) but it wasn’t resolved.
If anyone has any ideas that could help me I’d be very grateful. I’m quite happy editing my files but my php knowledge isn’t great, so step by step guides would be ideal.
Many thanks in advance.
