Is It Really Enough To Just Apologize to BP?
June 17, 2010 by David Olsen
First, I’d like to take a moment to honor a true American hero – Rep. Joe Barton, (R-Texas). You see, Mr. Barton has the courage to apologize to BP for the bad treatment they’ve been getting.
Let’s face it, it’s not every man that can look a CEO in the eye and say – “I’m sorry”.
It’s rare in this day to find a man of honor, a man that can look past the typical “left wing tree hugger” propaganda that says: “BP has caused the worst environmental disaster in American history and now they need to be held accountable”. No, Mr. Barton can see past all of that rhetoric. He knows injustice when he sees it! You see, Mr. Barton has found an even “deeper” truth!
Barton is a “man” who knows it’s wrong for our President to ask BP clean up the oil that they are freely giving away to the good people of Louisiana. He knows the lost wages of the thousands of men and women affected by BP’s greed and general shoddy workmanship don’t amount to a “hill of beans”.
Why should BP be forced to pay out billions of dollars to the very people who are benefiting from all the free oil that is washing up on their shores? Oil isn’t cheap you know! General Foods doesn’t dump free corn flakes all over the place!
No, I say we need to Thank BP and the good people of Louisiana should be the first in line to do so!
The Louisianans will realize how good they’ve got it during the long cold winter months, when they can heat their homes by just wringing out their bathing suits into their oil tanks!
Like Mr. Barton, I know that this so-called “disaster” will lead to even more good quality family time. Imagine Mom and Dad and Little Johnny sliding around the beach all day. Then, instead of coming home with some useless shells, how about bringing a couple of gallons of free crude- How’s that for Family Values?
I’m confident that history will show Mr. Barton for the true American hero that he is!
Oh and one last thing Mr. Barton, on behalf of Democrats everywhere – Thank You!
