Shelstar on "screwed up moving from add on domain to own cpanel"

March 25, 2010 by

I have been trying to follow instructions to fix this from other similar posts and the wordpress instructions themselves but am running into trouble and would really appreciate some help please.

My site: http://www.careerangel.com.au

I was attempting to move my wp from an add on domain to it’s own cpanel
when I screwed up big time and managed to delete the entire directory at the same time as I was attempting backing it up.

My host has managed to restore the site to the new cpanel, however apart from the front page all the other pages are coming up with 404 errors, although inside the dashboard all the posts and pages are still there.

With my limited knowledge I think it’s something to do with the database and the wp-config file.

I attempted to export and then import via that command in the dashboard
but received an error “Unable to create directory (pathway to the addon domain.) Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

So I am thinking that I need to change the pathway to the new domain, but don’t know where to do this. Or is there something else I need to do?

I would really appreciate some guidance on this, and thanks in advance.
